For the second consecutive year, HomeAid Atlanta is honored to be the designated charity of the annual Southern Building Show.

Since 2005, the Southern Building Show has featured a showcase home to give architects, builders, remodelers and other attendees the opportunity to see vendors’ products in use.

The goal of this basement makeover was to create a rich, comfortable environment for the family to gather for entertainment while incorporating several green elements.

In an age where waste is prevalent and trash typically does not look like treasure, it is refreshing to know that old material can be given a new chance to
be useful again. Most material that is reused or recycled becomes part of a new product altogether, losing the form and character that it has acquired over
the years. Fortunately, there are many materials that not only can be saved from the landfill, but their texture and patina can add tremendous character, style and beauty to the overall design of a home.

The Renovator of the Year, won by The Hoots Group, distinguishes an EarthCraft House renovator that is going beyond the established measures to decrease energy consumption in an existing home. The Hoots Group was the only builder to certify all renovation projects to EarthCraft House standards.

I’ve heard that there’s some sort of tax credit for making green renovations and buying green products. What does this apply to, and do you have any more information on it?
